Today marks the launch of the Lighthorne Neighbourhood Plan survey, live throughout September and open to everyone in the parish.
Lighthorne Parish Council is putting forward a Neighbourhood Plan, and a small group of volunteers has taken on the job of getting it off the ground. Our current Parish Plan dates back to 2012 and carries no formal weight when planning applications are considered. A Neighbourhood Plan is different: once adopted, it becomes a material consideration in planning decisions affecting the parish.
There’s a financial incentive too. With an adopted Neighbourhood Plan, the Parish Council receives 25% of Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) contributions from developers — money that goes towards local infrastructure and community projects. Without one, that share drops to just 15%, capped at £100 per dwelling.
A parish-wide survey is a required step in creating the plan, and this is your chance to shape it. The more residents who respond, the more weight the results will carry.
